Contemporary Formal Planting

This garden previously felt quite dull, my client wanted a fresher, prettier space to enjoy when leaving the house. We retained a formal planting layout to suit the Victorian style of the property, while the planting scheme focuses on mainly evergreen structure and repeated forms to create balance and rhythm, bringing seasonal interest throughout the year.

I started by removing the old slate, the soil beneath was heavily compacted, so I relieved it and added plenty of organic matter to improve structure and fertility before planting.

This is a work in progress but progress has been made.
